Barcelona are reportedly set to pursue Real Valladolid’s 17-year-old prodigy Ivan San Jose, who is also being courted by a number of other clubs.
According to a report by Sport, Barcelona are closely watching Real Valladolid midfielder Ivan San Jose to make a move for the 17-year-old this summer.
San Jose, also known as “Chuky”, has reached the youth level at Real Valladolid and has caused a sensation in the Spanish youth football scene in recent years. The 17-year-old, a central midfielder by profession, scored waves with 21 goals for the Valladolid cadets last season before moving up to the Juvenil B team at the start of the 2020/21 season.
In a short period of time, San Jose was hit by Pucela’s Juvenil A team, who play in the Honor Division. And the youthful midfielder took his chance and established himself as one of the best prospects in the division.

The report says the highly rated prospect is known for his skillful movement between the lines and the ability to find the back of the web. The 17-year-old recently faced Atletico Madrid’s Juvenil squad who delayed their title triumph.
The development of San Jose has put him firmly on the radar of the giants Barcelona. Due to their financial difficulties, the Catalans are looking for young players to strengthen their ranks. They have had success with the acquisition of Pedri from Las Palmas, while the Blaugrana have also seen Ilaix Moriba and Oscar Mingueza move up into the first team this season.
This has resulted in Barcelona being linked to a number of young prospects lately, with Fabio Blanco from Valencia apparently at the top of his wish-list, and that they have also shown interest in hiring the Borussia Dortmund U17 captain, Vasco Walz to commit.
Now San Jose has emerged as a target and the Catalans are hoping to seal the deal for the midfield prodigy as early as possible, considering a number of other clubs are chasing him as well. It remains to be seen whether Barcelona can secure San Jose or be beaten by another team.
