SAN JOSE, CA – The San Mateo County Coroner Office confirmed the identity of a San Jose woman on Monday who died in a high-speed solo vehicle accident on US Highway 101 near Whipple Avenue in Redwood City on Sunday .
The 18-year-old Silvia Chalista was pronounced dead at 3:18 a.m. on Sunday, the California Highway Patrol said.
The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old woman rushed to hospital following serious injuries, faces a possible DUI criminal charge.
The CHP had initially reacted to a vehicle heading south on Highway 101, which drove off the road at freeway speed and hit a power pole. The vehicle, an Audi sedan, then rolled over, according to the CHP.
