Earth Day: Members of the San Jose Community clean up Coyote Creek

SAN JOSE (KRON) – KRON4’s Camila Barco is based in San Jose, where Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful and the Santa Clara Sports Plex are organizing a Coyote Creek cleanup for Earth Day.

The creek, which is actually classified as a river, stretches 64 miles through Santa Clara County and parishioners hope to top their final total and clean up more than 4,660 pounds of trash.

Why California’s Tule Elk Population May Be Declining

Volunteers must sign the San Jose City Waiver and register with Anti-Litter. People will be turned away if the forms are not filled out or if they feel sick, do not wear masks, or have had contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.

While cleanups are a large part of Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful’s work, the group also organizes plantings, recreational and cultural activities, and events to educate the public about the waterway. Please visit their website for more information.
