According to the San Jose Fire Department, firefighters were in control of a fire with four alarm structures in downtown San Jose on Thursday afternoon.
The fire was reported in the morning on the 80s block on East San Fernando Street. There was a fire in an empty two-story commercial building, firefighters said.
A fourth alarm went off around 11 a.m., but the fire had been contained in the one building by then, firefighters said.
One of the rooms damaged by the fire used to be Chachos Mexican restaurant, which recently closed permanently due to the coronavirus stay at home order.
No injuries were reported immediately. Firefighters asked the public to avoid the area.
