New cloud kitchens in the Bay Area bring Wise Sons, Senor Sisig, and more to Oakland, Lafayette, San Jose
The term “cloud kitchen” makes it sound like a virtual kitchen that hovers in the sky and drops food everywhere. The concept of the pandemic, however, is pretty simple: several restaurants share a large commercial kitchen to bring out their favorite takeaway and delivery menu items.
The advantage is also simple: these companies are expanding their reach across the Bay Area, and anyone who orders groceries in Walnut Creek, for example, will get it faster and fresher if it is prepared in Lafayette, as opposed to the stationary products in Oakland or San Francisco.
Three new cloud kitchens were opened in East Bay and South Bay, offering a total of nine concepts at their respective locations.
There are six vibrant restaurants in the local kitchens in Lafayette and San Jose: Senor Sisig, Wise Sons Jewish Delicatessen (Lafayette only), Proposition Kitchen, MIXT, Curry Up Now (Lafayette only), and Saucy Asian (San Jose only). For the next one or two weeks, the Lafayette kitchen will be open for take-away and delivery from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. at 3455 Mt. Diablo Blvd. The San Jose Cloud Kitchen on 949 Ruff Drive in San Jose is open from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
In an email to the East Bay Times, Local Kitchens CEO John Goldsmith stated that Local Kitchens has more than five other Bay Area locations under development in addition to the Lafayette location and plans to expand across California by 2021.
“Our team was on the founding team of DoorDash and our culinary director was a senior executive at Momofuku for many years,” he says.
Vine Kitchen, a cloud kitchen in Oakland not affiliated with Local Kitchens, also opened its doors last week, showcasing menus from the Left Bank Brasserie, LB Steak, Mac’n Cheese Shop and Skewery by Meso restaurants in San Jose.
The Vine Kitchen pick-up location, open 11am to 9pm, is located at 2353 E. 12th St, Kitchen # 2, Oakland. Delivery is via UberEats, Postmates, GrubHub and soon DoorDash. To order, you can visit one of the restaurants’ websites, e.g. B. http://skewerybymeso.com. Click the Pickup and Delivery button, then select your location.
