The suspect follows the San Jose woman home and sexually assaults her

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) – San Jose police arrested a suspect who followed a woman home and raped her in her apartment.

At around 2:45 am on May 8, San Jose police responded on the 300 block of South First Street about a reported sexual assault.

The officers learned that a suspect followed the female victim to her home, where he physically and sexually assaulted her.

Detectives identified the suspect as 20-year-old Cristobal Fuentes-Melara.

Fuentes-Melara was found within hours of his identification and was taken into custody without incident. He has been sent to Santa Clara County Jail for rape, aggravated kidnapping, and various other sexual assaults.

Although the victim is Asian, officials say they do not currently believe that this attack was racially motivated.
