BCA Architects is currently looking for a highly talented project designer for our offices in Sacramento, San Jose or Irvine. This position will be responsible for initiating project design and documentation, and will serve as the primary resource for our project management staff. He / she will be responsible for helping BCA Architects grow their presence in K-12, Charter School, Community College, commercial and civic architecture commissions across California. The successful candidate must have strong problem-solving skills, including a great attitude and a desire to learn and grow in the industry and in the marketplace.

Job description / tasks:

  • Work in a project team of architects, engineers and administration to develop functional requirements and criteria / requirements for the project design.
  • Develop and communicate clear, concise design plans.
  • Make sure the designs meet legal standards and codes.
  • Sometimes assist with the development of design plans, labor allocation and budgeting.
  • Perform routine architecture tasks along with occasional high-level training / development work.
  • Work from others’ designs, collate data, do design calculations, create architectural drawings and renderings, consult manufacturers, evaluate materials, gather product literature to write architectural specifications, and examine the architectural features of structures on site .
  • Receive close monitoring and assistance with new or non-routine aspects of tasks.

Job requirements::

  • Bachelor degree required
  • Accredited architecture degree preferred
  • 1+ years work for a licensed architect or in a professional A / E / C company
  • Experience in budgeting and quality control
  • Proven knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop / InDesign / Illustrator and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Strong skills in architectural design, spatial planning, construction documentation and presentation
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
