Wild trip for sufferers in stolen San Jose Medical Transit Van – CBS San Francisco

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) – It was a wild ride on Monday afternoon for an 84-year-old San Jose man whose van was stolen while parked outside a medical dialysis clinic in East San Jose.

California Highway Patrol said the alleged van thief – a 34-year-old woman from San Jose – drove out with the older man inside and headed for Santa Cruz on Monday afternoon.

“Within a few seconds, the woman walking by jumps into the ambulance, steals it, and takes off,” CHP representative Sam Courtney told the San Jose Mercury News. “They could ping this van and give us a location. It was reported on Highway 17 towards Santa Cruz. “

The San Jose police warned the CHP about the hijacking, and officers spotted the van driving on Highway 17.

CHP officials attempted to stop the van and were led on a chase that ended near the clock tower in downtown Santa Cruz.

The man was found safe and sound despite his unexpected trip to Santa Cruz. His suspected kidnapper – identified as Marlina Rose Adame of San Jose – was arrested with the help of the Santa Cruz Police Department and turned over to the San Jose Police Department.
