Head coach Kim Gidley on the game:
“That was a tough 4-3 defeat to the number one team in the conference who haven’t lost a game in the conference game. The good news is that our team was right there all the way. I was so proud of how Sydney Fitch and Shailla Alda bounced back from yesterday in doubles and dominated 3rd to give the Falcons a chance to win the colon. Unfortunately we lost 2nd and 1. In singles, the team went up in flames and won three out of four opening sets, the only loss being to a tie-breaker. The team believed they had the surprise and could win. It was great that Sydney came off with such a convincing win in a row. 2 singles, followed by Shailla Alda in singles too. I was really impressed with how Shailla did it better in both singles and doubles today. Shailla had a chance to turn around and play dead after missing the second set in a tie breaker loren and then just came out and finished off her opponent in the third set. Then Mebeli Becerra approx. I’m through again today for another dramatic straight set win. Securing target values in the second set – Mebeli overtook her opponent again. What an amazing team effort for the team’s last home game of the season. I’m really proud of this team and how each and every one of them fights and supports one another. ”
The Air Force returns to Nevada on Friday, April 24th.
